The Gospel Truth!

What must I do to be saved?

ADMIT THAT THE ROOT OF ALL YOUR PROBLEMS IS “SIN”
You cannot be saved if you do not know what you need to be saved from.  Would you admit that you are a sinner and have, therefore, offended your Creator, God?  Romans 3:23 says that “all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”  Would you, therefore, be willing to admit that you deserve death as the just penalty for your sin?  Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death….”

UNDERSTAND THAT THE PENALTY FOR YOUR SIN HAS BEEN PAID
The Bible says in Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  God is able to forgive your sins only because His Son, Jesus Christ, has died for your sins!  He paid the price for your sins when He voluntarily died on the cross and shed His precious blood.  Romans 5:9, “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”  Hebrews 9:22b, “and without the shedding of blood is no remission.”

BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
You cannot approach God through your own “good” works.  The Bible clearly states that “by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9)  Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).  Acts 16:31 says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved….”  The word “believe” indicates that your full trust and dependence must be “on the Lord Jesus Christ,” not on anything you think you can do to save yourself.  In Mark 1:15b Jesus said, “…repent ye, and believe the gospel.”  In other words, “repent” or turn from trusting anything you think you can do and place your dependence in the gospel, the good news that Jesus died for your sins (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)!

You may express to God, right now, your belief (dependence) in what Jesus Christ did for you by praying/confessing to God the fact that you are a sinner and cannot save yourself, that His Son Jesus Christ died in your place to pay the penalty for your sin, and that you right now accept Jesus Christ as your Savior from sin, death and hell.  Having done so claim His promise in John 5:24 and then immediately begin to “act” according to what you read in Acts 2:41-42!
